Occupational Health and Safety

Protecting the health and safety of our employees is fundamental to our culture and success. Our Global Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Policy embeds safety management into all operations and supports ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification across major sites.

Through our EHS Management System, we identify, assess, and mitigate risks using the hierarchy of controls and comprehensive training programs tailored to site-specific hazards. All employees receive regular safety training, and all sites conduct ongoing risk assessments and safety reviews to ensure compliance with local regulations and Lumentum standards.

We strive for zero work-related injuries and promote a culture of continuous improvement through safe-work practices, employee engagement, and proactive risk management.

100% of our active manufacturing sites are certified to ISO45001 health and safety management system.

Product Safety

Lumentum is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers and the users of our products. Product safety is a core design requirement integrated into every stage of our development process, from concept and testing to certification and continuous improvement.

We maintain formal product safety standards and procedures that guide design, risk evaluation, and compliance with applicable national and international regulations. Products that require safety testing undergo rigorous evaluation, and when applicable, are certified by independent third-party bodies to verify compliance. Product safety goals and performance are reviewed semi-annually and reported to management to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.

Safety risks are evaluated throughout the product lifecycle, and we review all product returns and in-field incidents to identify and address potential safety or health concerns. Compliance documentation is centrally maintained to ensure transparency, traceability, and ongoing regulatory alignment across our operations.

We also provide targeted training on product safety requirements and procedures for employees involved in product design and manufacturing. This ensures everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills to uphold our high safety standards.
